U.R.A.A Upper Rhondda Angling Association

Rules and Regulations 

General Rules

1. No person is allowed to fish in associaton waters without a current N.R.A rod licence

2. Season - March 3rd to November 15th

3. Brown Trout to be returned season 20th march to 30th September.

4. Days - Monday to Sunday (inclusive)

5. The use of Salmon paste or and additives is forbidden.

6. Catch and Kill ticket - the number of fish per day must not exceed 4 in any association waters. Except as rule (11i)

7. Fishing in association waters shall be limited to a period of day commencing not earlier than one hour before sunrise and finishing no later than one hour after sunset.

8. Every member will undertake to report the Honorary Secetary in writing anything which comes to their knowledge, which tends to any damage to property or parts to the property, unauthorized fishing or anything injurious to the association or its aims.

9. Each member shall carry his/her license and identity card when fishing and show them when requested by a fellow member along with any fish he or she has caught. Each member should check on all strangers seen fishing association waters.

10. FISH CAUGHT IN ASSOCIATION WATERS MUST NOT BE DISPOSED OF FOR PERSONAL GAIN.

11. Llyn Fawr Reservoir

      (a) All Juniors under 12 years of as MUST be accompanied by an adult. Any juniors fishing with an adult member must fish within 30 yards of that member.

      (b) It is essential that the banks and general area of the resovoir be kept in a clean condition ant that n litter of any kind be left at the reservoir.

PLEASE TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME

      (c) No dogs allowed

      (d) No member is allowed to carry any firearms or any form of gun on the club waters.

      (e) Size Limit - 10ins (24.5cms), From nose to tip of tail. All fish under this measurement should be returned to the water. please take care when returning fish.

      (f) Artificial Fly Fishing only with centre pin reel and fly line with no accessories except landing. Any member found with live bait or tackle other than the above mentioned fly tackle will be suspended pending their appearance before the comitee.

      (g) Single and double hooks only to be used. No trebles to be used.

      (h) All members have the right to inspect another members bag on request. Any member refusing to comply with such request shall appear before the committee.

FISHIING MUST BE STOPPED WHEN FOUR TAKEABLE FISH HAVE BEEN CAUGHT.

      (i) Limit - 6 fish from October 1s to November 15th. 

      (j) No member to put rod down whilst line and fly is in the water.

      (k) Fly casting in orthodox method only.

      (l) Fishing form the pier is prohibited

      (m) Members must not start fishing within 10 yards of another member/angler UNLESS invited to do so.

      (n) 3 flies max per cast.

      (p) The use of powerbait or any other attractor is not permitted.

      (r) The minimum length of cast shall be 8FT from end of fly line to the eye of the first fly.

12. River

       (a) Association waters extend from the stag bridge, Treorcy through Bleancwm and Bleanrhondda.

       (b) Size Limit - all fish under 23cms must be returned carefully.

       (c) Bait - Only baits listed by the N.R.A Byelaws to be used.

       (d) Season - March 3rd to September 30th.

      

Its important that fish returns are returned to the honoraray secetary before the October meeting of each year. Any member failing to do so may be refused a licsense for the following year and fined.

Nil Returns are also required.

 

All members who fish other waters besides the association water are requested to disinfect their tackle waders and nets before commencing to fish the assiciation waters.

 

Catch & Release Rules

 

1. Knotless nets only.

2. Barbless & Debarb Hook to be used.

3. Unlimited catch & realese 

4. Minimum Cast length of 8ft to first fly

5. No static flies to be fished on sinking lines.

6. Unhooking of fish is to take place while in the landing net using WET hands.

7. No fish to be taken while fishing a catch & release session.

8. General rules to stand mixing of catch and release and taking or killing 4 fish limit cannot be mixed within the same daily session.
